Youth Director Position
Located in sunny San Diego, CA, Beth Jacob Congregation is an established Orthodox shul with more than 150 member families. Our campus is nearly a city block containing a Shul and Social Hall, Beit Midrash, Apartments, and a Children's Park and Basketball Court. Our community has an abundance of energetic young families that actively participate in weekly Shabbos and Holiday programming. We have a Rabbinic team and a robust office and facilities staff, to act as a team and provide support and mentorship of all employees and their duties.

We are looking to hire an engaging, inspiring, and passionate Program Director/Couple to serve as our Youth Program Director. In this role, you will be responsible for social and educational activities for our preschool to middle school children. With your leadership ability, you will have the flexibility to be involved in communal roles tailored to your unique skills and interests, teach Torah in various settings, and create deep relationships with members of all ages. Our Shul is a community that rewards creativity, passion, innovation. Past Youth Directors have built on their success here to advance to more senior roles in the Jewish world.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Responsible for youth programming: Shabbos morning groups, Afternoon Groups, “Parent-Child Learning” (Avos U’Banim), and a Sunday social activity. Other programming opportunities are weekly after school mishmar for middle schoolers.
-Build positive relationships with children, parents, and volunteer lay leaders
-Be a positive role model for those involved: A Ben/Bat Torah that the children (and their parents) can look up to. Attend and participate in synagogue programs.
-Actively engage teens to assist and direct groups on Shabbat morning as well as Shabbat afternoon, Yom Tov and Sundays.
-Publicize Youth events via social media, email blasts, and the shul website. Keep the immediate and broader community informed of events taking place.
-Coordinate and supervise the appropriate youth related programming and childcare for the High Holidays.
-Incorporate hosting social events and meals at your home with the goal to inspire the youth and the religious growth of the community.

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALITIES:
-Strong background in Jewish Education: This includes school settings, Synagogue, Camp, etc., including a passion and interest in conceiving and executing meaningful programs.
-Love for teaching Torah to children from families of various levels of observance
-Enthusiastic and energetic personality: create positive relationships with the children and the parents of the community.
-Excellent communicator and Team player: be able to coordinate with fellow Shul staff and volunteer lay leadership.
